COMMANDER JOHN CURTEIS RD* FCA DL RNR
1941 - 2013

We were sorry to learn of the sudden and unexpected death of John on Friday the 12th September 2013 and have sent our message of sympathy to his widow Fiona and family members.

John joined us in January 1992 and although only able to attend Meetings on a limited basis, we valued his membership of the DCOP and were pleased to see him with his ready smile, courteous manner and quiet wit.

In addition to his position in the Royal Naval Reserve, at one time Commanding Officer of HMS Cambria, John was prepared to serve and this is represented by some of the offices he held e.g. Vice Lord Lieutenant of South Glamorgan, High Sheriff of South Glamorgan; Master of the Felt Makers Livery Guild: Master of the Welsh Livery Guild; Chairman of the Missions to Seamen Cardiff. As a Chartered Accountant, he helped several Charities in the position of Treasurer.

If you had seen the opening of the 2013 Session of the Welsh Assembly on TV, you would have observed it was he who greeted the Queen. His was a life well lived and for which numerous tributes have rightfully been paid by those he served and those who knew him just as John Curteis.

John's was a private funeral, with a Memorial Service held at Llandaff Cathedral on Saturday 19" October.
